An incomplete gilded copper-alloy Medieval disc-on-pin buckle pin, dating to AD 1200-1400. It consists of a circular disc and part of the tapering D-shaped cross sectioned pin protruding from one edge of the disc. The front face of the disc has a circular recess in its centre, surrounded by a gilded rim decorated with an irregular sequence of dense transverse and oblique incised zigzags. A copper alloy medieval seal matrix, dating from1200-1400 AD. The seal face is round in shape, with the die depicting a letter, either d or p. The letter is surrounded by branches, and around this is a circular solid border. Part of the edge of the die is worn and broken. The seal extends up into the handle which is a hexagonal shape. The attachment loop is lozenge shaped, with two raised oval collars below, the lower one is in higher relief to the others.
