A cast copper alloy axe or knife blank / ingot of Chalcolithic / Early Bronze Age date (2450 - 2300 BC). The blank is oval in shape with the butt being rounded narrowed and tapered. In profile it is lentoid in shape and its cross section is a similar lentoid shape. The 'cutting' edge is rounded, from the external edges it tapers gradually until it forms a narrowed but rounded but. There is no sign of a stop ridge or any form of cast design. A complete copper-alloy pin of Early Medieval (Anglian) date, c.AD 475-600. The pin head is oval in plan with two flat faces and slightly rounded edges. The head is decorated on both faces in identical Salin Style I bird motifs. In the centre a headframe encloses an eye, which connects to a long beak with a slotted mouth. The beak curves around to form one side of the oval and an off-centre hole through the object. An incomplete copper-alloy Medieval composite oval buckle with integral forked spacer, dating to AD 1350-1450. The buckle frame is oval in shape with bevelled sides and notch for pin in the centre of the outer edge; the bar is offset and constricted to accommodate the pin, which is still in situ. The buckle frame is cast with integral forked spacer which survives only in two short projections (7.72 mm max length). The pin is sub-rectangular in plan and tapers towards the rounded tip. Probably a fragment from one arm of a copper alloy spur of probable seventeenth century date. The remaining section of arm has a pointed oval cross section with more convex outer face. It is broken at both ends with old worn breaks and widens from one end towards the other. There are two knops spaced about 13mm from each other, which project from the external face, and are slighly off-centre, being to the left when viewed with the wider end at the bottom. An incomplete copper-alloy Medieval three piece strap end, dating to AD 1270-1450. The only surviving part is one of the sheet plate. It has a sub-rectanguilar shape in plan, which tapers towards the rounded end. The attachment end is damaged and only a short (3.20mm long) longitudinal triangular groove survives close to the break of the front face. The back face has residues of soldering. An incomplete copper-alloy Medieval shield-shaped sheet plate strap end, dating to AD 1350-1400. The plate has a transverse semi-oval cross-sectioned bar mount on the front face of the attachment end. The damaged plate has a circular rivet hole. The other rivet securing the bar to the plate is still in situ and retains a copper-alloy rectangular sheet (4.84mmx5.84mm) on its back end. Cf Egan-Pritchard (1991, p.157, fig. 103, no. 732).
