An incomplete copper-alloy Medieval composite oval buckle with integral forked spacer, dating to AD 1350-1450. The buckle frame is oval in shape with bevelled sides and notch for pin in the centre of the outer edge; the bar is offset and constricted to accommodate the pin, which is still in situ. The buckle frame is cast with integral forked spacer which survives only in two short projections (7.72 mm max length). The pin is sub-rectangular in plan and tapers towards the rounded tip. An incomplete copper-alloy Medieval three piece strap end, dating to AD 1270-1450. The only surviving part is one of the sheet plate. It has a sub-rectanguilar shape in plan, which tapers towards the rounded end. The attachment end is damaged and only a short (3.20mm long) longitudinal triangular groove survives close to the break of the front face. The back face has residues of soldering. An incomplete copper-alloy Medieval shield-shaped sheet plate strap end, dating to AD 1350-1400. The plate has a transverse semi-oval cross-sectioned bar mount on the front face of the attachment end. The damaged plate has a circular rivet hole. The other rivet securing the bar to the plate is still in situ and retains a copper-alloy rectangular sheet (4.84mmx5.84mm) on its back end. Cf Egan-Pritchard (1991, p.157, fig. 103, no. 732). A fragment of a copper-alloy Medieval shield-shaped sheet plate strap end, dating to AD 1350-1400. The plate has a transverse semi-oval cross-sectioned bar mount on the front face of the attachment end. The copper-alloy rivet, which secures the bar to the plate, is still in situ. The back of the plate has a copper-alloy square sheet at the end of the rivet. Cf Egan-Pritchard (1991, p.157, fig. 103, nos. 732,734). A complete cast copper-alloy thimble dating to the late Medieval or early Post-Medieval period, c. 1450-1550. It is heavily domed, with straight sides (and a circular section) that extend upwards to a rounded apex. On the sides of the thimble are sixteen courses of hand-stamped circular pits, converging in a spiraloid pattern at its top. A plain band is visible around the base of the thimble, underneath the pits. Preserved in good condition with an even green patina, it stands 23.19mm high, 20.31mm in diameter at its base, and weighs 11.62g. Compare broadly with GLO-80FBC2 on the …

A fragment originating from a cast copper-alloy cosmetic mortar of Jackson's type A, dating to the Late Iron Age or earlier Roman period, c. 100 BC-200 AD. Slightly less than half the object survives, the rest missing in an old break. This is an end-looped mortar, demonstrating a broadly 'V sectioned body with a deep groove in its upper surface (truncated cleanly in a transverse break), with an integrally cast circular suspension loop projecting from one end. A broken rectangular cross-sectioned iron shaft passes through the central perforation. Both faces of the weight have other incomplete iron projections around the central shaft, three on one face and two on the other. The face with two projections have short punched linear marks at right angle to each face of the central iron shaft. An incomplete copper-alloy Roman stud, dating to AD 43-402. It is a roughly bell-shaped stud with a circular base. The base is decorated with a circumferencial groove and it is surmounted by a convex element, which wastes at its top ending in a plano-convex knop. The base of the knop has a raised collar. The back of the fitting bears a truncated rectangular cross-sectioned iron shank. The fitting is in good condition; few traces of iron corrosion are around the shank fragment.
