Complete Roman jar or urn of black burnished ware (BB2), (c.43 - 250 AD). The top of the vessel was broken during retrieval, while the remaining two thirds of the vessel remains intact. The vessel is wheel thrown, with a flat bottom, rounded sides and an everted rim. The fabric of the vessel is black throughout and hard, with minimal to no inclusions. An incised trellis pattern is evident on the upper band of the vessel, just below the rim. Lead alloy button 12.6mm in diameter, discoidal and slightly convex, with a simple looped shank 7.7mm in length. The front has a moulded quatrefoil or four-petalled flower with a plain cross or possibly lis in each petal and a central annulet. Between each petal is another triangular form. The rear of the button has a mould line. The loop is broken. Compares favourably to Read (2005) p17, number 47. Possibly 15th century.

Bronze ingot or cake fragment, 42.7g in weight and 33.4mm long. The object has a rough and unfinished surface with a green to blue-green patina and a plano convex to trapezoidal profile. One end is rounded the other has a pronounced step or edge which may be a break or suggestive of casting. The break is worn and clearly made in antiquity. Probably Bronze Age.

A ferrule, 24.7mm in length, with a pierced loop at one end. Profile is flattened and sub rectangular, twisted, possibly crushed and distorted. The object is hollow and the open end demonstrates the remains of organic material, probably wood. An encrustation of rusted iron is attached near the hollow end, although this is likely post depositional rather than the remains of any part of the object. Probably from a paintbrush.

A fragment of a cast copper alloy double loop trapezoidal buckle frame with moulded decoration. One loop and the bar remains. A Roman copper-alloy probably military mount, probably dating to AD 100 to 300. The mount consists of an outer flat circular disc with a projecting domed circular boss in the centre of its front face. The disc measures 1.8 mm in thickness and has a double incised groove on the outer edge and one at the point when the boss projects out. The boss is decorated with two parallel circular engraved lines near the top and a small indent on the top. The boss is hollow on the reverse.
