A complete copper-alloy penannular brooch of Roman date, c. AD 50 - 200. The brooch is of Booth Type A8 (Fowler Type A3) with a plain, circular sectioned frame which expands slightly towards the terminals. The terminals are rounded knops with a single raised moulded collar. A sub-circular sectioned pin with arched median portion and slightly flattened tip remains looped around the frame. An incomplete copper-alloy Aucissa brooch of Roman date, c. AD 43 - 75. The head of the brooch is formed from a flat, rectangular panel which splits into two at the back and rolls up and round to form the integral hinge which would have held the pin mechanism. The pin and axis bar no longer remain though the head displays patchy iron corrosion. The head plate is decorated with a double banded transverse border to the lower edge.
