Piano Hoard - Summary of findings 2016-T969 (Bishop's Castle Shropshire) I have examined a group of 913 coins reported found hidden within a Broadward Piano from Bishop's Castle Shropshire. The coins are listed in the attached report. Discussion of the find The 913 coins are all British gold coins, mostly sovereigns (634), but with a considerable number of half-sovereigns (280). An incomplete copper alloy umbonate plate brooch dating to the Roman period (c. AD 100-250). The incomplete central domed boss is circular in plan and decorated with 14 inward facing triangular cells in sunburst pattern in two concentric circles, one cell of which has been worn through.
