An incomplete copper-alloy Roman Colchester derivative, double-pierced lug brooch, dating 43-100 AD. The bow is broadly triangular in profile due to the presence of a prominent longitudinal ridge that runs down its midpoint. The brooch foot and catch plate is missing entirely, this part of the brooch having broken off in antiquity as the break is patinated and worn. A fragment of a Roman copper alloy bow brooch dating to c. 1st century AD. The fragment consists of the head of the brooch, with the wings still in situ, these were C shaped in cross section. The bow of the brooch curves downwards from the head of the brooch, it is T shaped in cross section with a central ridge. It has an oval headplate with a double semi-circular lug attachment on its reverse and an incomplete attachment loop. From the front of the headplate emerges an oval cross sectioned curved bow which is decorated with three transverse ridges just before the break.
