A small rim sherd from a Roman Samian ware vessel dating from circa 43 - 200AD. Below the rolled rim the sherd is plain both inside and out. The sherd is an even dark orange colour.

A small rim sherd from a Roman Samian ware vessel dating from circa 43 - 200AD. Below the very small piece of remaining rim is a close parellel zigzag lined design (Rouletting) , from rim down to a raised narrow border. This border has a wider parallel semi wavy line design. On the inside of the shard there are two parallel raised lines, otherwise plain. The sherd is an even dark orange colour.
Width 30.07mm, height 33.11mm, thickness 5.49mm and weight 5g.

Four sherds of Black Burnished ware (Poole/Wareham). The fabric is reduced black or at the core with an occasional oxidised layer at the margins underneath a black or grey reduced surface. Abundant rounded quartz sand temper with occasional shale pieces. The exterior surfaces are burnished.There are two rim sherds from jars, one from a bowl and an undiagnostic body sherd. Hanmade vessels. Heavily abraded.

A single sherd of unglazed earthernware pottery. The fabric is oxidised with patchy reduction at the margins. Dense fine sand temper. A cupped rim sherd from a jar. There is a grooved lid-seat around the flattened top of the rim. Handmade. Slightly abraded.
