Copper alloy button. Die-stamped plano-convex composite uniform button, from the uniform of the Lincolnshire Imperial Yeomanry. A central heraldic shield bears the Cross of St George with a central lis, and the legend LINCOLNSHIRE IMPERIAL YEOMANRY around the edge in a Garter-type band. A drawn wire loop passes into the separate flat back plate. The unit was raised in 1901 to provide mounted soldiers to fight Dutch South African guerrillas in the latter stages of the Boer War. Cast round section animal nose ring, in two parts with rebated and overlapping ends in the manner of a scarf joint, with a decayed steel pivot at one end and a drilled hole and steel fastening bolt at the other end, the latter passing into a drilled hole. These rings would be used to lead livestock, and might also be used to discourage a pig from rooting. An incomplete Early-Medieval (Anglo-Saxon) copper-alloy spherical-headed pin (700-900). The tip of the shaft is missing. The head is slightly flattened at the top and on the four sides and the underside is an inverted cone shape. It has five ring-and-dot motifs, one at the top and one on each main side. A fragment of a Roman copper alloy brooch, probably a Colchester derivative type, dating to c. AD 50 - 150. The fragment comprises of the lower bow, foot and catchplate of the brooch. The bow is rectangular in cross section and tapers into a pointed foot with a very small footknob. Decoration in the form of grooves run along the both edges of the bow meeting at the foot. Just below the break there is the remains of a a second pair of grooves meeting at a V shape. A rounded possibly water-rolled pebble with a dull and speckled surface appearance, possibly with worn and in one case slightly concave faces, well-adapted to hold in the hand. An incomplete copper alloy enamelled disc brooch dating to the Roman period (c. AD 80-250). The brooch is round in plan and flat in profile. The face of the brooch has been stamped with an inscription across two lines reading: SIA // MAS. A raised horizontal ridge separates the top line of lettering from the bottom line.
