A worn and abraded cast copper-alloy bow brooch of Colchester Derivative hinged type dating to the Roman period, c. 43-100 AD. The foot, catchplate and part of the head are missing in old damage, but otherwise the brooch is preserved intact. It demonstrates a circular-sectioned tubular winged head with an internal axis bar, the axis bar itself exposed on one side due to one wing partially breaking away. A copper alloy annular brooch of medieval to post-medieval date (c. 1450 - 1700). The brooch is slightly convex, the inner rim is raised and the surface decorated with moulding, what appears to spatulate leaves around flowers or fruit. The outer edge is chipped and abraded. There is a hole 1.3 mm diameter with some corrosion around and in it, this would probably have housed a wire pin. The back of the brooch appears undecorated. The brooch is very similar to a brooch from the Thames (LON-8492D2).
The brooch has an overall diameter of 25.5 mm, the inner aperture is 12.4 mm diameter.…

An incomplete Roman copper-alloy large south-westernt T-shaped brooch of Hull T138, dating to c. AD 50 - 150. It is missing its lower bow, catchplate and pin.
At the head of the bow is the remains of a headloop that projects 7.9mm from the centre between the two wings. The wing span measures 22.5mm. On one of the wings there is evidence of decoration visible, with two vertical lines located at the end of the wing. The reverse where the pin would have been located is heavily corroded and filled with iron corrosion suggesting an iron pin.
The upper bow survives at a length of…

Roman cast copper alloy female bust figurine, probably a forniture fitting. This is a well-modelled piece and probably depicts Diana.
The female figure has an elaborate hairstyle, is facing forwards and wears a draped outfit. Her hair is held by a diademed cap that leaves several locks of hair on the nape and two locks of hair divided in the middle on the forehead. Each of the two locks on the forehead joins a roll of hair on each side of the temples. The two rolls of hair run above the diademed cap and end tied into a topknot at the top of the back of the head.

An incomplete cast copper-alloy fragment originating from a Trumpet type brooch dating to the Roman period, c. 75-175 AD. Only the head survives, which is broadly oval in plan and flares out towards its rear face, from which a single perforated pin-attachment lug projects. Below this, the circular-sectioned bow extends briefly before truncating abruptly in old damage. Preserved in rather poor condition, it survives to a length of 14.05mm, 14.16mm in width at the head, and 2.99mm thick at the truncated end of the bow. It weighs 2.22g.

A cast copper alloy oval penannular brooch with the complete pin still attached. The length of the pin suggests that it was designed to fit transversely across the long length of the oval frame. The brooch frame is sub-circular in section, with two flattened terminals each rolled back into a spiral in the centre of one long side of the brooch, leaving a small gap in the circumference. The pin is made of copper alloy wire, pointed at one end, and flattened at the other end where it is loosely secured to the frame of the brooch by being wound around it. The brooch still has a smooth pati…

Roman coin hoard of 76 coins dating from 49 BC-AD 209. The coins submitted for consideration consist of a group of 2 silver and 74 copper alloy coins, 73 of which are mainly of the large-sized copper alloy denomination known as the sestertius with a few smaller asses and dupondii. The coins are much worn and some have lost edge and surface, with only a corroded core remaining. For this reason it is difficult to be certain of the denomination of the smaller coins, although the thickness of some suggests that they were also originally sestertii. These coins are predominantly second cent…
