A complete post-Medieval lead alloy double-sided token (1500-1850). Powell Type 2.
Both sides have a raised design. One side has initial letters: T C and the other side has a single rib.
This token is grey.
Length: 23.7mm; width: 19.8mm. Weight: 6.73g.
Lead tokens had a wide variety of potential uses such as tallies, gaming pieces, tickets, weights, etc. and are believed to have been locally produced; they are therefore difficult to date precisely. Those carrying initials are generally deemed to be post-Medieval in date (1500-1850), those which seem to mimic Medieval penny…

A fragment of Medieval silver halfpenny of Henry VI (1422-1461), minted at London. Annulet issue, 1422-1427. Cross V (North 1991: 75, ref: 1434; Withers and Withers 2003: 34).
Obverse: +hEnRIC (double saltire) R[ ]; Crowned bust facing.
Reverse: CIVI/T[ ]On, Long cross dividing the inscription with three pellets in each quadrant, annulet in CIVI quadrant.
Length: 13.9mm; width: 8.0mm. Weight: 0.32g. DA=12:9.

A complete, worn and damaged Medieval silver penny of Edward III (1327-1377), minted at York. Initial mark: cross 2. Fourth Coinage, Pre-treaty Series E, 1354-1355 (North 1991: 51, ref: 1169).
Obverse: +ED[WARDVS REX ANGL]I, Crowned bust facing with a bifoliate crown.
Reverse: [CIV]I/T[AS/EBO]/RACI, Long cross dividing the inscription with three pellets in each quadrant, quatrefoil at centre of cross.
