A sherd from the handle of a Medieval vessel. The 'strap' handle is a flat oval in cross section, with a central grove running horizontally on the oyter side. There are remains of a red-brown galze on both sides. The fabric is orange-red and is fully fired with no core. The fragment is 28mm long, 22mm wide and 7mm thick. it weighs 6.6g.

An incomplete Medieval copper-alloy buckle consisting of a frame and plate (c. 1200-c. 1450). The pin is missing. The frame is oval in plan, convex at the front and flat at the rear and measures 11.5mm in length, 16.3mm in width and 1.8mm in thickness. It has an ornate outside edge and a narrowed off-set bar. A complete lead alloy possible spindle whorl of Unknown date (c. 43-c. 1800). The spindle whorl is circular in plan and is hemi-spherical, domed at the top and flat on the underside. A central hole has parallel sides and is 7.4mm in diameter. This spindle whorl is greyish buff. Length: 18.0mm; width: 17.4mm; thickness: 7.8mm. Weight: 12.42g. Plain spindle whorls and weights were cast locally in lead from the Roman period onwards and are hard to date precisely although most are late Medieval or post-Medieval.

A copper alloy strap fitting; an S shaped "snake" belt fastener of Post Medieval date, AD 1550 - 1900 or later. It is S shaped and zoomorphic, having the head of a snake at one end; the other end is broken. No decoration on the body of the snake is visible. There is a copper alloy loop, perhaps a link from a chain, round the neck of the complete terminal. The fastener displays a rough, dark green patina. A Post Medieval strap fitting; the hook piece from a sword belt fitting dating from AD 1500 - 1700. The plate is sub-triangular in basic outline, with a wide three lobed terminal at one end, and a narrower lobe at the other end. The forward curving hook is missing. The plate is pierced by an iron rivet, of which only traces now survive, in the middle of the three lobed terminal. The front of the plate is decorated with a foliate design covering the plate. Obverse: +GLVCK KVMBT VON.GOT ALEIN, Three crowns and three lis arranged centrifugally around a central rose, with six petals, all within an inner circle. Reverse: +HANS.SCHLTES.IN.NVRENBERG, An Imperial Orb surmounted by a cross pattee, with three pairs of quatrefoils arpund tressure, all within an inner circle. The jetton has a crack across the centre. It is 21mm diameter, 0.7mm thick and 0.8g.

A copper alloy Roman brooch fragment; the enamelled constricting collar from the head loop of a brooch, probably a headstud brooch dating from AD 75 - 200. The collar is rectangular, but corroded so the edges are rounded. A copper alloy strap end, dating from the Medieval period, about AD 1200 - 1400. It consists of two sub-rectangular plates, which taper from a square attachment end to a rounded outer end, and are held together by two copper alloy rivets, one at teach end. Both rivets remain in place. The strap end is undecorated and has a patchy, smooth, green patina. It is 20.6mm long, 8.3mm wide and 2.7mm thick. It weighs 1.42gm. Strap ends of this type are illustrated in Egan, 1991, Dress Accessories c. 1150 - 1450, page 133, number 609, though the rivet arrangement is different.

The strap end is a sub-spherical knop with a flattened end and a projecting sub-rectangular sectioned shaft which splits into two plates, which have rounded ends with a corroded rivet hole through both plates. It is 16.3mm long, 11.5mm diameter and 5.2g. Such objects are not readily paralleled in the literature, but a number have been recorded on this database, e.g. WMID-498871, WAW-414503, NLM-74B5E9, NLM-26AF51 and SF-264006.

A cast copper alloy Roman trumpet brooch, dating from AD 75 - 175. The head and foot are missing. The upper bow of the brooch is oval in section and the middle of the bow is decorated with a worn acanthus button moulding consisting of a central prominent, transverse ridge flanked by indistinct petals above and below. The moulding extends round the back of the bow. The lower bow is triangular in section and is damaged at the lower end, with the foot missing, but the top part of the catchplate survives. The brooch has a rough green patina. It is 40.5mm long, 7.3mm wide and 14.5mm thick. 6g.
