An incomplete Roman copper alloy bow brooch, possibly a Trumpet type of Group B or a local derivative dating to the second century AD. The surviving portion comprises of the lower part of the bow and foot. The head, upper part of the bow, lower part of the catchplate and pin are missing to old breaks. The lower part of the bow runs straight to the foot. It is D-shaped in cross section with a flat lower surface. On the front two parallel incised lines run down the length closer to each outer edge. The brooch is almost complete and only the one of the wings, the foot and the lower part of the pin are missing; the brooch has been bent to one side, though, as a result of old damage. Copper alloy Langton Down brooch, this has tubular wings that wrap around the spring encompassing it within a cylinder, the spring is now missing. The bow is a flat sub-rectangular cross-section bar that is truncated just below the head resulting in the loss of most of its length, the front of the brooch may have been decorated with a series of vertical lines but any detail has been removed by corrosion.
