A medieval/ post-medieval copper-alloy button in the form of a heart, with both halves of the face obliquely-angled forward towards thickened edges (max. 5.4mm thick) from a deep groove at the centre (3.3mm thick).
The face and sides are decorated with incised transverse grooves, with chevrons in a herringbone style, stemming from the central deep groove downwards towards the thickened edges, though the grooves and chevrons are fainter on the sides. A late medieval/ post-medieval copper- or lead-alloy finger-ring with an undecorated rectangular bezel. The hoop is D-shaped in cross-section,being flat to the inside surface. The metal has badly worn and corroded, especially at the back of the hoop (5.7x1.5mm). The hoop thickens at the shoulders (c.2mm at the base) and expands in width at the top to measure 7.8x3.9mm. The rectangular bezel measures 15.6mm long, 7.8mm wide and 2.7mm thick.
The finger-ring measures 23.2mm in height and 23.3.mm in width, with an internal diameter of 19.5mm. It weighs 4.48g. The patina, where it survive…

An incomplete Roman copper alloy hinged developed T-shaped brooch dating to AD 75 to 150. The brooch is almost complete and only the one of the wings, the foot and the lower part of the pin are missing; the brooch has been bent to one side, though, as a result of old damage.
An incomplete tab remains above the head of the brooch and measures 6 mm in width. The wings are broadly cylindrical but recessed at the rear; they measure 4.1 mm in diameter and survive to a width of 20.6 mm. A cast copper alloy rectangular double looped buckle with a strap bar set upwards at an angle from the frame and with a bevelled outer edge, suggesting use with a robust strap. A cast pin is looped around the strap bar which is set below the frame. The pin is stuck in position and is immovable probably due to corrosion. Suggested date: Post-Medieval, 1600-1700. An incomplete copper alloy Polden Hill type brooch dating to the Roman period (c. AD 75-175). The brooch consists of the head and wings and the upper part of the bow. The axis bar, spring, pin, foot and catch plate are all missing. The wings are semi- cylindrical in plan with the right hand wing/end caps showing some damage. At the reverse of the head is a concave rectangular slot that would have housed the spring. The bow is broad at the head but quickly tapers to a damaged terminal. A fragment of a copper alloy post medieval spoon, dating from c.1600-1700. The fragment consists of the bowl of the spoon. The bowl is oval in shape, and concave. On the outer edge there is a small triangular chip, and the edge of the bowl is worn. On the underside of the bowl it is decorated with radiating grooves, that project out from a solid line on the stem end of the bowl, these grooves create a scallop shell design. The short arms of the spur, which are roughly D-shaped in section, terminate in forked and rounded attachment ends with the remains of rivets in situ. An incomplete copper-alloy strap fitting of Post-Medieval date, c.AD 1500 - 1700. The fitting is kite-shaped with two integral spikes projecting from opposite points on the reverse. The front of the fitting has three stepped circumferential ridges. The tip of one spike has been lost to a worn break.
The metal has a mid-red/brown patina and is worn. The fitting is 19.9mm long, 11.8mm wide, 2.4mm thick and weighs 1.9g.

A cast copper-alloy rowel spur of Post-Medieval date, probably AD 1600 - 1700. Only the back of the heel and the rowel box survive. Most of the sides and both terminals are missing. The neck is divided into two sections and each side has a rounded knob at the end, perforated for the missing rowel axle. The rowel is also missing. The sides are undecorated and are D shaped in cross section. The spur fragment is 42.3mm long, 31.9mm wide and 10mm thick. 10g.
