A complete cast lead spindle whorl of the Medieval period (AD900-1500). The object is plano-convex with a flat base and domed top with a central perforation.There is no decoration on any surface. It seems to have been roughly cast as there are several casting marks and pits but there are also some marks that are modern.The aperture measures 13.06mm at the top and 13.98mm at the base.The overall patina is a pale grey colour with some darker patches. An incomplete silver penny of the Medieval period from the reign of Edward III (AD1327-1377), pre-treaty series D, Durham mint dating to 1352-3. Obverse description: Crowned head facing. At the centre of the button is a raised cross, with trefoils in each quadrant. An incomplete cast copper alloy 'stirrup' finger ring of probable Medieval date (AD 1200-1450). The hoop of the finger ring is distorted, and broken across the mid-point of the both broken edges are abraded and worn suggesting damage in antiquity. From the break the hoop flares (expands) at the shoulders of the ring to form a relatively plain decorated bezel. The bezel projects from the hoop and is rhomboid in section. A complete, but squashed copper alloy sewing ring of Medieval or early Post-Medieval date, about AD 1450 - 1550. The ring tapers slightly from the base towards the open top and the outer surface is decorated with four concentric rings of circular pits. The thimble has been partially flattened, and one side has cracked. It measures 27.4mm wide, 8.7mm tall, 6.6mm thick and 3g.
