Lead weight. Cast plano-convex weight, with a central dimple on its flat side suggesting shrinkage after casting in an open mould. Patinated, abraded and probably chipped. The mass does not immediately suggest correspondence with any particular system. Though a little over one quarter mark [62.2gms], a measure used for silver and for bread and a possible value noted for a single discoid weight from medieval London (Egan 1998, tables 14-15, fig. 229), the abraded condition and irregular form leave the loss of an uncertain amount of fabric possible. Suggested date: Unknown, Roman to Pos…

A cast lead alloy cylinder, possibly the chamber from a toy revolver, of post-medieval to modern date. The cylinder has six circular chambers 4.5 mm diameter, arranged around a central hole of the same diameter. These chambers are 15 mm deep, then close to a 1 mm diameter. On the opposing end of the cylinder, these small 1 mm holes emerge into countersunk depressions 5mm diameter. The central hole is only 5mm deep, and would presumably have housed the axel around which the cylinder would rotate. On the centre of the opposing face of the cylinder is an integrally cast six armed cog…

White metal disc. A probably milled disc with the stamped letter R off-centre on one side. A silver cut half of a voided long cross penny of Henry III (1216 - 1272), Long cross coinage (1247-1272). The half with the moneyer's name is missing, but the obverse inscription begins at 12 o'clock, which indicates that the class belongs to I - III, without the sceptre, and on the reverse the inscription reads /NG/LOV, which suggests the Gloucester mint. The moneyers in Gloucester were ION, LUC/AS, RIC/ARD and ROG/ER, all of whom only minted Classes IIb - IIIc.
