A complete copper alloy scabbard chape dating to the late Bronze Age, 1150 - 800 BC. The chape is sub triangular or ogival in shape, and lozenge shaped in cross section. At the open end the chape curves upwards into two convex arms, creating a crescent shape. The outside edges curve down gradually to half way down the chape, before narrowing at a more steep angle. An incomplete copper alloy socketed, side-looped spearhead, dating from the early Middle Bronze Age (c.1550-1250 BC). The spear can probably be assigned to Davis's Group 7 'Special Side Looped'. The object has a broken blade of indented quadrilateral section. There is a prominent longitudinal mid-rib on both sides of the spear blade and abraded cutting edges. A fragment from a Roman copper-alloy strip-bow brooch dating to c. AD 25 to 70. The head and bow are formed of a continuous strip. The lower bow, foot, pin and part of the head are all missing. The head was formed by rolling the top of the bow forward to hold an axis bar. One side of the head, next to the central pin slot. and the pin are now missing. The upper face of each side is decorated with three deep transverse grooves. Maximum external width 20.5mm. Maximum internal width 14mm. Thickness 2.5mm. See NMS-6A3B21 and Egan and Pritchard (2002, 258, no.1346) for a pewter brooch with hexagonal frame decorated with pellets from a late 14th century context.
