A fragment from a Roman copper-alloy strip-bow brooch dating to c. AD 25 to 70. The head and bow are formed of a continuous strip. The lower bow, foot, pin and part of the head are all missing. The head was formed by rolling the top of the bow forward to hold an axis bar. One side of the head, next to the central pin slot. and the pin are now missing. The complete side still holds part of the copper-alloy axis bar and it is decorated on the front only with multiple raised diagonal and horizontal lines. A fragment of pin from a Roman hinged brooch, consisting the head, stop and a small section of the shank. It probably dates to c.AD 50-200. The head is triangular in shape and 1.3mm thick, with a central perforation at the apex (to attach to the axis bar). From the other (opposite) corners a projection curls down into a stop (2.7mm wide, 0.7mm thick and flat) and the top of the pin shank (circular in cross-section with a diameter of 2.4mm). A Roman (AD 43-410) copper alloy finger-ring of penannular form, probably cut down from a bracelet. The terminals are of different size although both are oval in shape. The wider measures 3.3x2.2mm and is flanked by a pair of transverse grooves to the top and sides only. The smaller terminal has some recentish damage to it and measures 2.4x1.7mm. The back of the hook is also oval in cross-section and measures 2.8x1.7mm. The metal is a light bluey-green in colour, with a very smooth and shiny patina. The object measures 19.9x19.4mm in 'diameter', 3.3mm in max.thickness and weighs 1.79g.
