Lead cloth seal. A small pair of discs pressed or stamped together. One disc is larger than the other, and now appears blank. The smaller disc bears stamped symbols or letters appearing as: O Y II / +0; the 'Y' and the second 'O' may together form a symbol resembling a merchant's mark. Suggested date: Post-Medieval, 1600-1700. Diameter: 13.7mm, Thickness (overall): 3mm, Weight: 2.71gms

Lead cloth seal. A cast pair of discs linked by an integrally cast strip, with a hidden lug probably involved in the attachment of one disc to the other. Patinated One side, the larger disc, bears the stamped Roman numerals XIX. The other side bears a lattice pattern; this might be part of a portcullis motif (also known on a Yorkshire seal, appearing on both sides: Egan 1994 page 175, fig. 24 no. 107). Similar lettering appears on a cloth seal also bearing the date 1619 (ibid., page 173, fig. 22 no. 91), and the date of that object may be an apt guide to that of this example. Suggest…

Lead offcuts. Two fragments of cut cast lead. One is a flattened tubular fragment from a thin-walled [2.4mm max] pipe. The other is a folded fragment of cast lead sheet with cut edges and a slash on one side, but of similar thickness. The good survival and light patina may suggest a relatively recent date. Suggested date: Post-Medieval, 1800-1900. Combined Weight: 141.62gms
