An incomplete cast copper-alloy buckle frame dating to the Medieval period, c. 1300-1400. Only the outer edge of the frame and its shoulders survive, the remainder of the frame and plate missing in old damage. Originally the buckle would have been 'D' shaped in plan, demonstrating knopped terminals to the strap bar (which are still visible). The upper surface of the thickened outer edge is ornately decorated with raised curving tendril motifs, with traces of gilding retained in the recessed areas as well as on the rear face of the frame (which is otherwise plain and featureless).
