A sherd from the rim of a ceramic Roman vessel. The fabric is Severn Valley Ware. The vessel would of been a large, floor standing, storage pot. The rim is everted and rounded. The sherd represents about 6% of the diameter, and the opening would of probably been at least 40cm Vessel Wall thickness 13mm. Thickness of rim 20mm. Width of sherd 88mm. Weight 149g.

Cast rectangular bar of plano-convex section with an oval loop with small [diameter 2.7mm] drilled hole at right angles to its frontal plane at one end, and with a horizontal moulded bar above the loop. A back plate of thickness 0.4mm is attached by two burred rivets of head diameter c.5mm which pass through circular roves [diameter 10mm]; whether these project from the back of the bar is uncertain, but likely.
