An incomplete Roman copper-alloy hinged developed T-shaped brooch dating to c. AD 75 to 150. The surviving portion comprises part of the head, the bow and part of the foot with catch-plate on the reverse. The pin, one of the wings, most of the foot and the remainder of the catch-plate are all missing. At the head of the brooch an integral headloop survives and measures 6.0 in diameter; the perforation is off centre, perhaps worn to one side. An enamelled copper alloy skeuomorphic plate brooch in the form of an axe. The brooch consists of a rectangular haft and an axehead with a small, squared loop with a circular aperture at the top. The axehead is trapezoidal in shape with an in-curved lower edge and an out-curved upper edge. The haft has a reserve of metal around the outer edges and is recessed, containing traces of red enamel. An integral headloop survives above the head of the brooch and measures 6.6 mm in diameter. The wings are cylindrical, measure 4.1 mm in diameter and survive to a width of 20.6 mm overall. An incomplete cast copper-alloy brooch of Mackreth's Hod Hill 2b type, dating c. 43-75 AD. The foot and pin are missing in old damage, though otherwise the brooch is preserved intact. It demonstrates a rolled, tubular head with a rectangular slot at its midpoint- which still contains the remnants of the pin. The bow is sub-rectangular in section and broadly rectangular in plan, demonstrating a central recessed cell flanked by two prominent ridges. A complete cast copper-alloy lozengiform brooch dating to the Medieval period, c. 1200-1400. In plan the frame of the brooch is lozenge-shaped and a flattened rectangle in section, demonstrating a constriction on one side which still houses the wound-wire pin. The underside of the brooch is plain and featureless, while its upper face demonstrates moulded decoration: each corner has a 'brambled' boss, with the spaces of the frame inbetween are filled with three raised saltires on each site. Preserved in good condition with an uneven brownish green patina, it measures 18.85mm in length…
