A cast lead spindle whorl of uncertain date, probably from the early medieval period. The whorl is circular in plan with a plano-convex profile, and is white in colour. It is 27.3mm in diameter with a maximum thickness of 5.0mm, and a conical central aperture of 6.5mm diameter (convex face) to 9.5mm (flat face), and it weighs 17.9g. There is recent damage to the flat face, where it was hit by a spade during extraction...... The whorl conforms to Walton Rogers form A dating to 800-1000

A post-medieval (1650-1700) copper alloy dress hook, eye-section, of Read's Class A Type 12 (sub-pentagonal with one attachment knop and two attachment holes in the plate). The sub-pentagonal plate has a raised rim flanking the edge and moulded decroation in the form of a four-petalled flower with sepals and fronds. At one end is a rounded attachment knop with a projecting spiral collar (the piercing 1.6mm diameter) while at the opposite end is the rectangular eye-section (loop, 12.9mm wide, internal 8.8mm). The fabric is fine and sandy with a smooth feel. Dimensions Sherd 1: 52.2mm x 47.3mm x 6.9mm. Weight: 23.6g. Sherd 2: 53mm x 28.2mm x 9mm. Weight: 17.9g. 'Greyware' describes various types of locally produced pottery that were made in many different areas of Britain. They are one of the most common type of pottery found on Roman sites in Britain.

A flat area at 12 o'clock on both faces suggests a casting sprue has been trimmed off here. Lead tokens had a wide variety of uses and were made locally. An incomplete and heavily corroded Roman zoomorphic plate brooch (AD 100-200). This brooch appears to be a rabbit (or hare) with young type. The animal is facing right. Its torso and hind quarters survive but the head and legs are missing. On the front face there are two irregular shaped cells for enamel which may represent the young. The rear face has a pair of 'D'-shaped pin lugs to accommodate the axis bar for the missing pin. These lugs are at the hind quarters end. A copper-alloy apothecaries' weight of post-medieval/ early modern date (c.1600-1900). It is square in form and rectangular in section. On one face is a stamped mark of value for a half drachm (3fs or perhaps 38s); the other face is unmarked. The object measures 11.2mm in length, 10.8mm in width, 2.3mm in thickness, and 1.70g in weight. The weight is a little less than the standard weight for a half drachm (1.94g). It is likely to date to between the 17th and 19th centuries AD (see Withers and Withers, 1995: p. 65; Biggs, 1992: pp. 8-9).

An incomplete copper-alloy possibly Early Medieval stirrup mount, dating to AD 1000-1100. It is sub-triangular in plan with all the edges heavily damaged and worn. The mount is L-shaped in profile and it has an iron rivet passing through the right-angled flange. The front face is stained by iron corrosion products and it is not possible to detect eventual decoratif motifis. The back face is plain and heavily pitted. A lead spindle whorl of probable medieval date due to material and style of decoration. The shape is biconical discoid with embossed line pattern on both sides albeit one side is very worn and not much trace of the decoration exists. The central spaces devoid of decoration, reaching from the inner hole to the outer rim. The object has a dark grey patina with the odd white speckle. Outer diametre measures approx. 25mm. The loop clasp consists of an oval plate with expanded wings for the plate, while the opposing end has a drilled loop set perpendicular to the main object and finished in a zoomorphic (open-mouthed beast) design. An incomplete lead alloy cloth seal from the Post Medieval period. Just under half of the seal is missing. A squirrel sitting upright holding a nut is stamped into one side perhaps resting on a branch, beneath this are the initials I.S. On the other side is an R and above it a crown containing two pellets. There are two horizontally placed pellets next to the R. A similar cloth seal can be found on the PAS database: NMS-692F70. The cloth seal weighs 5.53g, has a thickness of 2.97mm thick, is 28.20mm long and 18.78mm wide.

An incomplete copper-alloy rowel spur of medieval to Post-Medieval date, c.AD 1300-1700. Only the rowel remains which is in the form of a six pointed star, with each arm having a lenticular cross section. A central perforation is present though is not filled with corrosion product. The metal has a dark black/brown patina and is worn. The rowel is 22.9mm long, 20.4mm wide, 2.6mm thick and weighs 2.9g.
