Two fragments of separate ceramic vessels of Roman date, c.AD 43 - 410.
Both vessels are from local (unsourced) miscellaneous greyware vessels with mid-grey fabric throughout. The fabric is fine and sandy with a smooth feel.

A fragment of a ceramic vessel of Roman date, c.AD 300 - 400.
Rim and body sherd with a hard fine-textured fabric. The core is a pale grey colour and the surfaces a medium grey. Smooth wheel-burnishing on exterior surface. Everted rim Wheel-thrown. Probably Crambeck Reduced Greyware.
The sherd is 77.8mm x 63.1mm x 7.2mm. Weight: 49.3g. Overall diameter: 24cm (projected using rim chart); approx.10% remaining.

An incomplete and heavily corroded Roman zoomorphic plate brooch (AD 100-200).
This brooch appears to be a rabbit (or hare) with young type.
The animal is facing right. Its torso and hind quarters survive but the head and legs are missing. On the front face there are two irregular shaped cells for enamel which may represent the young. The rear face has a pair of 'D'-shaped pin lugs to accommodate the axis bar for the missing pin. These lugs are at the hind quarters end. An incomplete copper-alloy possibly Roman military buckle, dating to AD 350-450. It consists of an arc of the possible buckle frame, which has a semi-circular cross-section and one elaborate end shaped like a dolphin head on the front face. It has an extended muzzle, which is broken and waisted on the long sides. On the top of the probable dolphin head there is a oblique groove which defines a thinner outer crest that is decorated with transverse grooves.
