Object type: PURSE
Broad period: POST MEDIEVAL
County: East Sussex
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation
A fragment of a copper-alloy object, probably representing part of a post-medieval purse bar (c.1550-1650). The object comprises a bar with circular cross section with a pointed spherical terminal, resembling a flower bud, at one end. The opposite terminal is rectangular, with a flattened face on which incised lines create ridges. The terminal has a semi-circular cross section. There is some evidence of a worn break on this terminal, suggesting the object once continued beyond.
