A copper alloy Medieval annular buckle (or possibly a brooch) dating from about AD 1250 - 1400. The buckle frame is circular in plan and oval in cross section and is plain. There is no constriction for the pin (see Egan and Pritichard's Dress Accessories, page 64 and 65 for a discussion of the differentiation of annular buckles and brooches). The copper alloy pin is cast with an open loop to attach it to the frame, and a raised bar moulding across the pin adjacent to the loop. The tip is broken off and missing.
