A cast, copper-alloy rotary key of Roman date, AD 200-410. The key has a short solid rectangular stem (16mm) attached to a bow of octagon shape that has a loop width of 15mm. It is set at an angle of 90 degrees to that of the stem. The cross-section of the bow is 1mm thick by 6mm wide. The bow has an old break that has twisted one side out of shape. At one end of the stem, where it joins the bow, there is decoration in the form of two grooves and two raised ridges.
