Cast copper alloy harness fitting of Medieval date (1250-1400). The fitting is incomplete and represents only one broken element of a larger composite piece. The extant fragment is broadly rectangular in both plan and cross section. In design it is probably best described as a slotted bar which would originally have held a pivoting central spindle upon which enamelled and gilded harness pendants would have been displayed. Only one arm of this bar survives being broken across a pierced oval tab positioned at one edge. From this broken edge the bar tapers in both thickness and width ter…

A small Neolithic polished axehead, possibly reworked from a larger original one. The axehead is slender and is pointed oval in section across the middile. The cutting edge is crescentric and displays polish on both faces. The main body of the axe is unpolished. The butt end is unusual, being set a 90 degrees to the cutting edge and forming a second blade. Both faces of the blade are polished, and extending a short way along the edge of the axe. It seems possible that the area that is now the butt was originally the cutting edge of an entirely polished axe that has been later reworked…
