An incomplete cast copper alloy Colchester derivative Polden Hill type brooch of Roman date (80-120 AD). The wings are near complete with flat and pierced end cap. The axis bar, spring and pin are lost. The spring was probably formed of copper alloy wire which was held in place by an external cord which is fixed to a rearward facing hook positioned at the midpoint on the upper edge of the reverse. Cast copper alloy harness fitting of Medieval date (1250-1400). The fitting is incomplete and represents only one broken element of a larger composite piece. The extant fragment is broadly rectangular in both plan and cross section. In design it is probably best described as a slotted bar which would originally have held a pivoting central spindle upon which enamelled and gilded harness pendants would have been displayed. A near complete cast copper alloy Roman Trumpet brooch dating from AD 75 - 175. The bow of the brooch has an angular profile and an angular D shaped cross section. The bow tapers from a flared head to a tapered foot knop. The head of the brooch is complete, it is very robust being oval in plan, and tapers into the bow. The reverse of the head is concave and has a cast D shaped projecting bar which extends from the upper to lower edges of the reverse. A cast copper-alloy 'Winchester style' strap end of later Early Medieval (10th - 11th century) date. The strap end is incomplete and the upper and lower faces are lost. The damage appears to be old as the breaks are either corroded or patinated. Originally the strap end would have been rectangular (tongue shaped) with a rounded base and riveted attachment plate. The stepped attachment plate is lost and broken across the rivet holes whilst the rounded terminal has lost its projecting point. The fragment consists of part of the rim and small section of the sidewall. The internal and external surfaces have a brushed / turned surface. The vessel fragments are a mid green grey colour with a coroded surface patina.
