Cast lead or lead alloy bi-convex decorated spindle whorl of Roman to Post Medieval date (1 - 1650 AD); most probably medieval date (AD 1300-1550). The spindle whorl is broadly circular in plan and a globular bi-convex shape in profile. Both faces have a cast rim around the edge and also a similar rim around the circumference of the inner hole - this central rim is very high compared to most examples recorded to date. A Medieval cast lead alloy openwork monogram of Maria pilgrim badge dating to the 14th-15th century. The badge is in the shape of a Lombardic M with crown above. Similar badges are illustrated in Spencer (1998:156 fig.166-167b. The badge would probably have been circular on plan with a thin pelleted outer ring linked by larger pellets to a wider inner ring with pelleted inner and outer edge and the Lombardic M within. An incomplete lead alloy Dutch Customs bag seal of the Post Medieval to Modern period, dating from c. AD 1815 - AD 1907. The seal is teardrop shaped with a rounded point at the apex. One face depicts a lion rampant and a sword which are inside a shield, with a crown above the shield. This is surrounded by a beaded circular border which has either been worn away or has been badly struck. This is a representation of the arms of the House of Orange. It is circular in plan and rectangular in profile.The upper face is decorated with a daisy wheel flower formed of six lentoid raised hoops or loops positioned evenly around a central pellet / boss. A lead alloy lead weight of probable later medieval or post medieval date (1400-1800). The weight is circular in plan and rectangular in profile.The upper face is stamped with a C with distinct serrifs; it is positioned below the mid-point. Apart from this mark - it is undecorated. The weight has a mid-grey -cream coloured surface patina. The mass of teh weight is very close to the 2 oz - therefore it is likely to represent a 1/8th of a lb Diameter: 33.9mm, thickness: 7.1mm, weight: 58.6 grams (2 ozs)
