An incomplete probable ovate flint handaxe of Lower Palaeolithic date (500,000 - 180,000 BC), Description: The handaxe is incomplete and has a heavily tumbled surface. It was produced via bifacial working with one face being almost entirely destroyed by damage leaving it rough and pitted. The point is rounded and one edge of the remaining face is incomplete also. The flint is the characteristic light brown-orangey 'toffee' colour with some brown to light brown iron staining typical of Palaeolithic flint finds Measurements:79.65mm long, 57.03mm wide, 20.21mm thick and 84.75g in weight.

A fragment of a cast lead armorial cloth seal. The fragment consists of a strip, cut or torn across the diameter of a circular seal, 32 mm long, 14.5 mm wide and 1.5 mm thick, weighing 6 g. The fragment is damaged at both ends, so the precise diameter of the seal is uncertain. The front face is decorated with a double-arched St Edward's crown over a Tudor rose, within a ring of pellets. One loop and the strap bar of a cast copper-alloy double-loop buckle with a trapezoidal frame. The fragment is 20 mm long and 23.5 mm wide, 3.5 mm thick and weighs 4.3 g. The upper and lower frame elements are 2.5 mm wide with bevelled inner edges. The inner edge of the remaining frame is vertical, with a pointed knop on the outer edge and ovoid knops at the corners. The pointed knop has a transverse groove which acted as the pin rest, but the pin is now missing. A fragment of the bowl of a copper-alloy spoon. The fragment is 22.5 mm in length, 21 mm in width, 0.5 mm in thickness and weighs 2.35 g. It consists of approximately two-thirds of the distal end of the bowl of a spoon, which has been torn leaving no trace of its attachment to the stem. A flint core of probable late Mesolithic date c.8000-4000BC. Description: The core is very roughly conical. The striking has left substantial conchoidal fractures, which indicates use of hard hammer technology. The removals appear to be quite small and vary in size and direction There is a concave side which may relate to an area of lower quality flint with inclusions and faults which may be why the core was abandoned. The flint is heavily mottled grey colour except for the patch of beige cortex. Measurements: 37.9mm high. 36.7mm wide, 34.99mm deep and 31.68g in weight.
