A complete Early-Medieval (Anglo-Saxon) silver sceat (710-740) of Wodan Series H, Type 49 variety 6ai/6aii, H 806 (Abramson 2006: 16 and 73; North 1994: 64, ref: 103, plate 1, no. 48). Mint of Hamwic (Southampton).
Obverse: Moustached face centrally with a beaded outline, seven roundels with pellets between and quatrefoil below face, all within a beaded border.
Reverse: Crested peacock displaying right, roundel above and rosette below with pellet between legs, pellets behind, all within a beaded border.
Diameter: 12.7mm. Weight: 0.92g. DA=12:3.
