A complete copper-alloy casket key of medieval date, c.AD 1150 - 1450. The key is small with an ovate cross section. A circular bow extends from one end of the stem with a circular perforation. The opposite end of the stem is flat and shows a hollow interior to the key with a bit projecting out at 90 degrees. The metal has a mid-green patina and is worn. The key is 38.6mm long and 3.9mm wide; the bow is 10.7mm in diameter; the bit is 11.9mm wide. It weighs 4.4g. Similar keys, though with circular bows, are illustrated in Egan (1998), p.112, fig.86.
