Fragment of the shank of an Early Saxon copper alloy girdle hanger broken at one end more recently than at the other and slightly bent longitudinally. Decoration comprises a row of double half-annular punched impressions running close to both edges. Extant length 35mm. Width 7.7mm. Thickness 1.3mm. Weight 2.69g. Late 5th - early 6th century.

Incomplete Early Saxon copper alloy girdle hanger with the terminal and the lower end of the shank missing (a recent break). The broad loop, with a central moulded groove, is only a litttle narrower than the shank, at the top of which a rectangular-sectioned panel is decorated with a large punched ring-and-dot. Below this, a D-sectioned length, slightly hollowed on the reverse and swelling towards the centre into a pair of scarcely discernible eye knobs, carries two sets of transverse ribs above and below a pair of chevrons, one facing upwards and the other downwards, and both compose…
