Roman copper alloy strap end. The object is sub rectangular in form and rectangular in section, and measures 41.8mm long by 25.6mm wide and is 4.0mm thick. It is in good condition with a greenish patina and weighs 12.8 grams. There is an integral plate 9.3mm in length at the distal end which has 4 symmetrically positioned rivet holes, 2 larger holes either side of the centre, and 1 smaller hole in each of the outer corners, 1 of which is partly missing as the corner has broken away. A complete lead-alloy weight, possibly a spindle whorl of Roman date. The object has a bevelled flat lower face and domed upper face. The object has a central circular 5.10mm Ø perforation. There is no decoration on obverse and reverse and all surfaces appear slightly worn.
Lead weights like these are common finds, but only rarely from excavated contexts which is why date and origin are difficult to pinpoint. Probably an incomplete copper alloy buckle dating to the C14th. The frame is oval and is rectangular in section with a projection opposite the knop that may be part of an extended plate. The knop is thicker than the frame and extends 10mm. The pin is missing. The possibility also exists that it could be part of a purse bar or a swivel mount.

An incomplete and squashed.silver filigree button. The separately applied wire attachment loop is missing, but was originally soldered onto the incomplete octagonal silver backplate. The squashed domed front is formed from applied silver twisted wire and strip metal. There were eight curled strands of twisted wire of which seven remain, emanating from a central pin with a wire band around it. Each of the curls is framed by a drop-shaped strip of silver sheet.
