An incomplete copper-alloy buckle of Post-Medieval date, circa AD 1550 - 1650. The buckle is a double looped oval with moulded decoration. Trefoil knops, possibly fleur-de-lis, are present at symmetrical points on the outer edge of each loop and a lobed knop decorates each end of the bar. The frame features a series of moulded roundels except on the bar. The reverse is flat and undecorated and the pin no longer remains. The metal has a mid-red/brown patina and is worn. A small and slightly bent post-medieval (1500-1800) silver seal matrix with openwork trefoil handle and an oval flan depicting a bird (perhaps an eagle) rising right. The handle bears a maker's mark, the letter P. The oval flan (9.8x8.5mm) depicts a bird with long neck and curving, pointed beak facing right. One wing rises behind, the other follows the curve of the matrix below. Between is an elongated rectangular body terminating at the tail end in circa three feathers. A complete copper-alloy button of medieval to Post-Medieval date, c.AD 1400 - 1700. The object is heart-shaped with a thick rectangular profile. The sides of the heart bend forward from a central groove and a narrow striated border decorates the edge of the upper surface. An incomplete copper-alloy headstud brooch of Roman date, c.AD 75 - 200. The head of the brooch comprises tubular wings which house an axis bar for the pin. The pin no longer survives. The front of the wings are heavily corroded obscuring the nature of the decoration though small traces of blue enamel are retained. Middle Saxon/Late Saxon Strap-end of Thomas' (2003) Class A Type 5. Part of rear part of split end missing. Two rivet holes near bi-lobed attachment edge. Fan-shaped field outlined by moulded V-section groove. Two rectangular fields filled with dark niello and spirals of silver wire. Some of the inlay in one field is missing. The animal head consists of large ears formed from moulded grooves, moulded eyes and a pointed snout. The area of the brow has a small circular niello inlay with scrolling silver wire. Length 45mm. Width 12mm. Weighs 5.06g. 9th century.
