An incomplete copper-alloy bow and fantail brooch of Roman date, dating form about AD50 - 150. The head of this brooch is comprised of rectangular wings; the reverse is tubular and acts as an integral double lug hinge mechanism through which an axis bar remains. Projecting above the wings is an integral circular headloop. From the centre of the head a D-sectioned upper bow extends into a circular ring and dot style panel with two short knop projections extending, one to each side. A complete copper alloy finger ring dating to C1st BC to C1st AD. The ring is part-coiled with the remainder cast to look as though the coils continue through the body of the ring. The coil design forms two distict bands blending with the other four "cast" bands with the second and fifth bands towards the wider part of the ring notched to resemble a chain or rope design.

An incomplete copper-alloy plate brooch of Roman date, c.AD 200 - 350. The brooch is oval, raised to the front with a large central ovate recess. The recess is bordered by a twisted rope work design, parts of which retain gilding. The edges of the brooch are broken and worn. To the reverse of the brooch the worn remains of a pin lug and catchplate project from opposite ends. The metal has a mid-green patina and is extremely worn. A complete iron horse harness buckle of medieval date, c.AD 1150 - 1450. The buckle is a single loop D-shape with an ovate section. A circular sectioned pin remains looped around the bar though is corroded in place facing away from the frame. No decoration can be determined. The buckle is 32.8mm long, 43.2mm wide, 5.8mm thick. The pin is 37.8mm long, 7.8mm wide, 4mm thick. It weighs 19.9g. Similar examples are illustrated in Clark (1995), p.56, fig.42. Ref: Clark, J. (1995). The Medieval Horse and its Equipment. A complete copper-alloy strap-slide of medieval date, c. AD 1150 - 1450. It is trapezoidal with an integral attachment rivet projecting centrally from the shorter edge. The frame has a rectangular section. The outer edge, opposite the rivet, is decorated with a series of parallel transverse grooves. The metal has a dark green patina and is worn. It is 17.4mm long, 12.9mm wide, 4.2mm thick and weighs 1.6g. Similar mounts are illustrated in Egan and Pritchard 1991, p.232, fig.147.

Broadly similar type to Whitehead (2003), nos. 529-30, although no close parallel. Length 40mm. Width 31mm. c.1620 - c.1680.

A lead musket ball dating to the post-medieval period c.17th-19th centuries. Description: The musket ball is spherecal and appears to have a sprue scar remaining as well as distinct 'flash' visible along the mould line. Likely this was caused by the two mould halves having been poorly seated. An incomplete copper-alloy buckle of medieval date, c.AD 1250 - 1400. The buckle is a single looped oval with a narrowed and offset bar and ornate outer edges. Two prominent knops flank seven grooves on the outer edge of the loop which act as rests for the pin. The pin no longer remains. The metal has a dark brown/green patina and is worn. The buckle is 19.6mm long, 15.9mm wide, 4.1mm thick and weighs 3g. A similar example is illustrated in Whitehead p.22, no.87 and is dated to circa AD 1250 - 1400. Ref: Whitehead, R. (1996).
