A fragment from a hone or whetstone of undetermined date, probably Medieval or later but an earlier date should not be ruled out. The stone is rectangular in plan, profile and has a D shaped cross section. The whetstone is formed from a mid grey, coarse grained grit/sandstone - an area of distinct reddening is present in one place - this is likely to be due to burning or heatening in a fire. A cast copper alloy fragment from a larger unidentified object of probable later Early Medieval date (AD 800-1200). The fragment is an irregular triangular shape in plan and slightly curved in profile - originally it would have been rectangular and the extant fragment represents a single corner. The fragment is pierced on one of its broken edges by a circular hole - which possibly may have held a rivet.
