The remaining section is a flat plate with elaborate outline, at the complete end are two curved out points flanking a shorter central point. Incomplete Early Saxon copper alloy annular brooch dating to the period c. AD 450 - 600. D-sectioned loop with a relatively recent break at either end. The loop is divided into a series of oval bosses, each separated by three or four moulded ridges. Traces of iron staining, possibly from the missing pin are visible in places. The head plate is square, with a central raised square panel and an engraved vertical groove running along both sides. It retains an integrally cast top knob and one lateral knob. The head plate is square, with heavily abraded edges and signs of old breaks. A series of punched ring-and-dot motifs run around the edge of the plate. On the reverse is the stub of the missing pin lug surrounded by traces of iron corrosion from the missing pin. The D-sectioned bow projects from the lower edge of the head. It exhibits a moulded double collar and terminates in an old break. Finder's ref: 6.

It commences in an old break below which are traces of a ridged collar. The moulded zoomorphic foot in the form of an animal's head exhibits bulbous eyes set either side of a long triangular-sectioned head and bulbous flared nostrils with a rounded snout. Fragment of a copper alloy Early Saxon cruciform brooch, probably Martin Type 1, dating to the period c. AD 420 - 500. It commences in an old break across the bow which arches downwards and bends at a right-angle into the foot. The junction between the catchplate and foot is a moulded triple collar below which projects the moulded zoomorphic foot in the form of an animal's head. It exhibits bulbous eyes set either side of a long triangular-sectioned head and bulbous flared nostrils with a rounded snout. Finder's ref: 2.

Copper alloy possible mount fragment. A small fragment from a cast object with curvilinear interlaced elements, possibly openwork, and with an off-centre fixing hole of diameter 2.5mm - if this is not merely a further part of a decorative design. The finder kindly suggests a Saxon date, and the reddish tint of the metal is indeed characteristic of Anglo-Scandinavian metalwork from the region.
