Rim fragment from a copper-alloy cooking vessel. It measures 77.5 wide by 43mm high and is roughly in the form of a trapezium, with the rim as the longest edge and three old breaks at the lower edges. The vertical profile shows a convex thickened lip to the inner face of up to 5mm thickness over a circumferential strip extending downwards to 13.5mm below the rim, and the thickness of the side wall at the bottom edge of the fragment is 2.5mm, increasing to a maximum of 3.4mm near the rim. There are diagonal scratches on the inner face at the projecting lip, which may be filemarks. …
