A flat copper alloy object, probably a broken side or top knob from a one-piece Anglo-Saxon florid cruciform brooch. A silver sixpence of Elizabeth I dated 1572.
Description: The coin is unclipped but there is an old crack to the edge of the flan, possibly from farm machinery damage, or from a flaw in the casting of the original flan blank. This has resulted in a small amount of lost material from the flan edge. The obverse of the coin, and especially the bust, is very rubbed and worn, suggesting that it was in circulation for some time. There is recent damage causing a small scratch to the surface of the obverse. The bust is of the small type 4B with a rose behind. The reverse is less worn and s…

A copper alloy (bronze probably brass) merchants token for Massey's Wine and Spirit Company most likely to date from the 19th century AD. The obverse is then struck with the design which may be a single die or made up of several separate (handmade) punches. It reads over four lines: WINES / AND SPIRITS / BY MASSEY / LUDLOW. The revers…

An incomplete and decorated lead object of medieval or post-medieval date. No original sides remain, and it is now in an irregular heart shape bearing part of an inscised design. The design appears to have had two concentric circles, within which is a geometric design - perhaps a six or eight pointed flower or daisy wheel. Only two leaves are visible; both have a pellet at each end.
The object has been folded and along the fold is a 6mm long slit, probably the result of wear.
