Object type: TOKEN
Broad period: MEDIEVAL
County: Norfolk
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation
Lead token of medieval to post medieval date (c. AD 1250 - 1800). Discoidal with a long cross pattee in relief on one face. The design on the opposite face is unclear. Lead tokens had a wide variety of potential uses such as tallies, gaming pieces, tickets, weights, etc. and are believed to have been locally produced; they are therefore difficult to date precisely. Therefore those with simple designs are given a more general Medieval to Post Medieval date. Finder's ref: 5.
