Roman (AD c. 350-450) a complete cast copper-alloy buckle fragment of a zoomorphic frame. The frame is moulded into two dolphin heads facing each other, with their mouths slightly open. Between their mouths there is a circular disc with a trapezoidal section. The outer face has a low-relief 'II'. The dolphins have a prominent crest which tapers along the back of the dolphin and are decorated with obliquely angled low-relief notches. An incomplete Roman copper alloy south-western developed T-shaped brooch, probably dating to c. AD 75-150. The brooch is largely complete, with a central transverse break to the headloop and the lower half of the pin missing.
At the head of the brooch the wings extend to 25.4mm; these are cylindrical and retain an iron axis bar. A rectangular slot is cut into the reverse of the head to accommodate the hinged pin. Lead Seal. Approximately 23mm in length. Image enclosed in an oval on obverse of seal; the image is of a standing man with a sheep either side of his legs and another wrapped over his shoulders. On the reverse of the seal, in the centre, is a small flower with five petals, with two rings of writing around the circumference of the seal. The writing is difficult to distinguish due to wear, however it is identified as a Pettifer & Sons, Malmsbury, Wilts. Seal and it is believed that this is what the writing says on the reverse.
