A complete but slightly misshapen post-Medieval gold posy finger-ring (c. 1600-c. 1700). Treasure case no. 2018 T417. The outer face has an elaborate design of contiguous moulded motifs: hearts, tri-lobed floral sprigs and 'daggers'. The inner face has a phrase as well as a maker's mark and is inscribed: 'Constancy Weth Affection' (constancy with affection) The 'W' is in the form of a crown which in heraldic terms is in the style of a 'Crown of Nobility'. Roman (1st to 4th centuries) figurine representing Jupiter. The incomplete copper alloy figurine is in the form of a bearded, nude male, and is three-dimensional. The head has well-defined wavy, thick hair which borders the face, leading to a thick beard. The back of the head is obliquely angled and has a flat oval area with traces of vertical ribbing which may be the style of the hair rather than a cap or hat. A fragment of a silver finger ring of Roman date (AD 200-300). The retained fragment is rectangular in plan with a flat section. The object demonstrates a slightly faceted hoop however the shoulders and bezel are missing. The fragment is probably a Henig type VII dating to the 3rd century Dimensions: Length: 15.47mm, Width: 8.41mm, Thickness: 1.78mm, Weight: 1.4g. Incomplete Roman copper alloy gilded oval plate brooch dating to the period c. AD 200 - 350. Flat, oval plate with possible traces of applied reserves, now largely missing.
