A cast copper alloy double loop buckle or spectacle buckle of Post-medieval date. The loops are bevelled on the inner edges and the reverse is flat. The strap bar is narrowed and flsuh with the frame. The pin is missing but there is a raised section of iron oxide on the central bar and on the corresponding loop on one side which are the remains of the iron pin. Much of the orignial surface does not survive but there appears to be traces of black lacquer on the surface. Whitehead (1996) illustrates a similar buckle on p.54, no.305, which is dated from c.1500-1650.
