A crudely cast lead artefact, possibly a weight of possibly Medieval to post-Medieval date, about AD 1150 - AD 1600. It is broadly octangonal in plan, with a uneven base, a projecting lump preventing it sitting flat. The sides are angled, so the upper face is smaller than the base. The upper face has a deep angular depression in the top making it concave. The object has rough sides and a thin grey patina. It is 22.9mm in diameter and 16.6mm high. It weighs 45.69gm. An incomplete, lead mount, weight or decorative item. The object is broadly lozenge shaped, with two opposing obtuse angles and two opposing acute angles, but with one of the acute angled points truncated. Two of the adjacent edges on either side of one of the obtuse angled points are bevelled and appear to be almost intact, while the two opposite edges are more rough and might be broken. Between the two bevelled edges there is an incomplete hole (6.9mm in diameter) near the obtuse angled point. This hole may have been used for attachment. Cutting into edge of the hole, and running al…
