Incomplete wing-and-fanbow brooch. Rearhook, spring and pin missing, damaged C-sectioned arms, flat bow with engraved line along either edge and median groove with short engraved oblique lines and flanking lines, broken lower end, catchplate missing. Extant length 27mm. Extant wingspan 18mm. c. 40-55 AD.

Pitted and corroded fragment of a Roman or possibly Late Iron Age copper alloy Colchester Derivative or Colchester brooch, the lower part of a bow of flattened D-shaped section, face with a broad median groove between two obliquely knrled ribs, tapering to a broken foot. Slight stump of missing catchplate. Extant length 37mm. Width and thickness at break 7 and 3.5mm. c.20 - c.80 AD.

~~Copper alloy brooch of Colchester derivative, Polden Hill type. Rearward facing lugs on either end of the wings hold the pin axis bar, the spring is made up of 7 curls but the pin is missing. A rearwards facing hook at the top of the head would have held the external cord of the spring but this latter item is now missing. Emanating from the front of the hook is a low central ridge that runs down the front to the bow. Small shoulders flank the head and a flanged collar surrounds the ends of the wings The bottom of the bow is truncated resulting in the loss of the catch plate.

A copper-alloy Early Medieval (Anglo-Saxon) small-long brooch, dating to AD 450-480. It consists of sub-rectangular head plate which has two inverted U-shaped notches between the lower corners and the initial part of the bow. The front face of the plate is decorated with a frame of punched annulets and two recessed pellets at the upper corners. The upper part of the bow has a rectangular cross-section which turns into a triangular one until the break.
