An incomplete Copper-alloy Medieval buckle from c.AD 1250 - 1400. The object consists of a single loop oval form buckle frame with a bar at each end. Two lobed knops flank a constriction on the outer edge of one, covered with a sheet metal roller. The strap bar opposite is narrowed and recessed. The object is in good condition albeit abraded with a powdery light green surface. c.f Whitehead (2003) Buckles 1250-1800, Page 23, No 105.

A Copper alloy single loop buckle of Medieval date. The buckle has a sub-rectangular loop with expanded outer edges. The obverse front edge is decorated with three transverse grooves one of which would have acted as a rest for the pin. The reverse is undecorated. The strap bar is narrowed and offset. The object has a dark green patina and appears to have been tinned. Dimensions: 13.6 mm in length, 14.6 mm in width, 2.5 mm thick, Weight 0.91 grams. Similar examples can be found in Whitehead, (2003) p27 are no.135-136 which are attributed to c. AD1350 - AD1400.

A post-Medieval cast Copper-alloy double-looped buckle frame missing the pin. (c. AD1550-AD1650). The buckle frame is bevelled on the inside and in a good state of preservation with a stable surface, abraded with a light green patina remaining in patches. The frame is half round in cross section, flat on the reverse and the pin bar is sub triangular. The outer edges of the obverse are decorated with three transverse grooves on each loop. Three medieval to post-medieval shoe buckles, each comprising an annular lead-tin alloy (i.e. pewter) frame and an iron wire pin, cf. Egan and Pritchard 1991, nos. 115 - 210, c.1270 - c.1600: - pin surviving only at the loop, diameter 16mm. - diameter 14.5mm. - frame oval, probably through distortion, 17.5 x 14.6mm.

Medieval copper alloy buckle frame with integrally cast forked spacer and composite plates dating to the period c. AD 1300 -1450. The single looped frame is lipped and bevelled, the strap bar narrowed and offset. The separate sheet front and back plates are soldered on to the integrally cast forked spacer and held together at the back edge by two flat-headed rivets.
