Treasure reference 2018 T383: a small hollow cylinder of silver. The cylinder has a double collar at both ends. The cylinder extends either side of the collars, and both ends are broken shortly thereafter. Traces of gilding are visible. Discussion: The object has no dating evidence itself, but is from a known Early-Medieval productive site and is probably evidence for silver working of that date. Conclusion: In conclusion, this object constitutes a prima facie case of treasure by consisting of more than 10% precious metal content in that it is silver and gold, and is of an a…

A simple, almost complete, probably Roman to medieval copper-alloy bowl (c. AD 43 - 1500). The bowl has been formed from a sheet of copper-alloy by hammering over a former, to produce the desired shape. The base is very slightly rounded, although stable. Curving up from the base the sides rise with a slight outward splay, before becoming vertical and terminating in a simple, undecorated rim. The walls of the bowl appear to be the same thickness throughout, difficult to determine accurately as parts of the surface have been lost. The rim is almost intact, apart from one old split, whic…
