A post-medieval, copper-alloy thimble dating to the 18th century.
Description: The thimble has slightly tapering sides from the base to the crown, with a raised lip around the base. It is decorated with circular drilled indentations. The indentations form a pattern of concentric circles from the base to the peak of the thimble. The top of the thimble is domed with a 'waffle' pattern of square indentations.
Measurements: Length 19.95mm: Diameter 21.3mm: Weight 8.22g
Discussion: The thimble is a Holmes English or Dutch Type III thimble.
